We are happy to announce our new supplier Romi Machines UK who will be delivering to us a GL250s Twin Spindle turning centre. This machine will be packed with all the expected mod-cons and we are coupling it to an LNS Europe bar feed system.
This is the first brand spanking new machining centre we have purchased and we are looking forward to putting it through its paces in our own projects as well as for our customers.
Thanks to Bob Turnell and Eduardo Paiva for working with us the last few months to make this happen.
We look forward to working with Tim Hardcastle at LNS Europe to automate this setup.
Iconic Engineering Solutions have expanded its milling capabilities by acquiring a larger Haas 3 axis CNC mill fitted with a 4th axis rotary table. This machine will open up new opportunities in the way we approach the manufacture of components for our customers.
Friday the 12th of November saw the annual Grantham Journal Business Awards hosted at Arena Uk just outside of town. The event was well attended and a host of awards were presented to many local businesses covering all areas of business from high street shops to charities to manufacturing.
Iconic has been finalists 3 years out of 4 and was please with the consistency of being in the top three.
This year was to be our year though and we took the award after being sighted for the use of cutting edge technology, offering unique services in our local area, our commitment to helping train the next generation of engineers, and our continual growth over the last three years.
"I would like to thank all the judges for coming over and taking the time to look at what we do and most importantly 'getting' what do. I would also like to thank Ilife Media and Grantham Journal for hosting a great evening and mostly I would like to thank our small team who have worked hard over the last year and over the pandemic to maintain our business and keep us growing in the right direction." Jamie Clare, Director
MD Jamie Clare of Iconic Engineering Solutions attended a Careers Event at The King's School in Grantham on the 9th of Feb to showcase what a career in engineering involved and what students can expect to get out of it.
"We spent the day speaking with students. We told many stories of our time working in the engineering industry and how it has changed over the years and the new opportunities that it can offer to those who embrace it as a choice. It was really nice to see so many students asking interesting questions about the new technologies in our sector."
We will be attending more events throughout the year to showcase how good a career in engineering can be!!
2022 is a year of change for Iconic. We are planning to shift some of our focus onto passing on our passion for engineering and being creative to the students in our local area. We are gearing up a blitz of visits to as many Education Providers as possible to help inform and promote Engineering as a great and interesting career choice for school leavers.
With this in mind, we have already visited two Highschools in the local area. One to deliver a short 1:1 with a class of yr9 students to discuss the next stages of getting into engineering and another with Techwuman where we delivered a STEM day to students using 3D CAD Solidworks and doing some hands-on projects. We have several careers days coming up soon too.
'The pandemic has sown us how resilient the engineering sector is and has offered continued work for thousands of people over the last few years. There is a massive shortage of skilled people in our industry from the individual who presses the cycle start button on a CNC machine to the person who writes the programs to make the machines work in the first place.'
Engineering is such a multi-layered industry and we find the perception of most school leavers is that is a dirty, noisy business with low wages. In fact, it's not been like that for a long time and it has been overlooked massively while having to compete with other career paths that are more trendy.
This is our aim...
To raise awareness about engineering as a career
To show the fun and satisfaction you can get in a job in engineering
Help those who would like to learn more about the industry

We have recently taken in a Kitamura H400 Twin Pallet Machining Centre. Although it's an older machine it has done only light work and has plenty to give going forward.
Spec:
10,000 RPM Spindle
BT40 Taper
Fanuc Control
400mm pallets
Through Spindle Coolant
100 Tool ATC
We hope this will allow us to streamline the production of some of our motorcycle parts as well as offer more efficient production of larger batches of parts for our sub-con services.
Slightly late with this news but we have installed a new (to us) VMC in our workshop. It arrived to us the first day back after the Christmas break. We have purchased a sturdy workhorse that is a Bridgeport VMC 600. It's an older machine but with a 10,000rpm spindle, it removes some of the pressure on our higher spec machine.
Throughout 2020 Iconic has been on the forefront of assisting many local businesses and the NHS with PPE and manufacturing various screens to protect essential workers.
We used our own in house 3d printers to manufacture hundreds of face shield that we donated to many Care Homes as well as design and manufacture larger screens to provide protection for NHS Staff at Grantham Hospital.
Iconic ran a successful fund raiser to gather money to help purchase materials so other people with access to 3D Printers could also join in and help their local areas. We purchases over 100 rolls of 3D printer filament and shipped them all over the country for other people so they could do their bit.
Work is under way on a new workshop and offices for Iconic to move into before the end of the year.
We will be moving all our new CNC equipment into the workshop and expanding what we do to include fabrication.
We have lots of images to come to show off the progress.
We will have new offices and a show room to display parts and showcase projects. Moving will allow us to have space for warehousing to allow us to design and stock our own parts.
In the last quarter of 2019 Iconic Engineering Solutions Ltd continues its relentless quest for quality and best services by investing if a pair of Lathes. We have a CNC with Live tooling and C-axis soon to be delivered as well as a trusty Colchester Centre Lathe to give flexibility when we are developing designs for customers. Drop-in again soon to see what new news we will blog about.
Watch this space for more info and see our process of installation and commissioning.
Friday 2nd Nov 2018 saw M.D. Jamie Clare attend the Grantham Journal Business award where Iconic Engineering Solutions Ltd were finalists in the Engineering and Manufacturing category. Although we did not scoop the top award we were given the 'Highly Commended' certificate for our top three finish. News of the nominations were very exciting and as a small engineering consultant, it is nice to see recognition amongst our peers.
